The public now access the site using a dedicated entrance. They are prevented from accessing the waste sorting area by a physical barrier. A ramp allows waste to slide down for the excavator to rake.
Industrial vehicles dropping off or picking up waste have their own entrance to the site, segregating them from members of the public. Truck drivers are segregated from the site vehicles as they no longer need to walk accross the site to access the site office.
The workers sorting the waste have a designated area in which to stand when the excavator is in operation. This is not a protected area, but rather an area where the excavator driver can check the location of the staff before commencing work. The option of introducing a dedicated banksman is under consideration.
